An omen (also called portent or presage) is a phenomenon that is believed to foretell the future, often signifying the advent of change. People in ancient times believed that omens bring a divine message from their gods. These omens include natural phenomena, for example an eclipse, abnormal births of animals (especially humans) and behavior of the sacrificial lamb on its way to the slaughter. Omens on the other hand, come without any prior request on our part for guidance and catch you by surprise. They are rare, of great significance and stand out because of their weird, outlandish, even bizarre nature. They can also be wondrous, conspicuous, and astounding.
First of all, I want to make it very clear that I am not superstitious nor do I believe in dark magic, voodoo or any such thing. I do believe that God does occasionally send us a sign of something that we may be concerned about, especially if we have asked Him for one. After all, He loves us and wants us to be happy. Having said this, I want to share with you what I believe to be an omen (or sign) of something that I was very concerned about.
I prayed to God for someone that I could share my life with, that I would be compatible with, and with the same belief in God. On March 8th, I arranged to meet Brucie through mutual friends. We met at a restaurant in Palm Desert where he was staying in his RV at 1000 Trails Park. We met 3 more times, once in town and twice at my house. We found out that we had many things in common, one of which we were both on Keto. What are the odds? By now after comparing likes, dislikes and beliefs in life in general I was beginning to think that this was the man for me but I really couldn’t be sure.
We met at my house on the March 20th, (the last time I saw him in person for 7 more months) and on the 22nd I had a doctors appointment for stem cell therapy. My girlfriend drove me in to the appointment because I wouldn’t be able to drive home. I expressed my feelings about Brucie to her and told her I wasn’t sure if I should pursue this potential relationship or not. I barely got the words out of my mouth when she said, look up in the sky. Right in front of us was a perfect heart, topped off by a perfect moon.
By the time I got my camera out, it started to diminish, but you can still see what it was.
She said “there’s your answer, an omen straight from heaven.” I am inclined to believe her. After 7 months of video chatting, twice a day, the rest is history.
Meanwhile, while taking pictures around the house, Brucie captured the following picture through our screen door.
I rest my case. Blessing!
I leave you with these words:
Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. —Psalm 119:105
